Episode 1 (Pilot) - 'Sausages'
The show is introduced by a crowd of abusive Martians speaking squeaky French.
Karl is with his psychiatrist, complaining vehemently about his love life. 'However,' he says, 'this is nothing compared with last week.'
Flashback to Karl and Phil sitting in the living room. Phil is attempting to use a can opener but lags the requisite opposable thumbs. Karl sits on the sofa and is abused by him.
Chas enters, he sees Karl, lets out a cry of fury, and then pummels Karl into a bloody pulp. The fight only ends when Karen enters and congratulates Chas on getting a new high score. Chas lets go of Karl and howls, a broken man.
It turns out that Karl sat on Chas's game controller, unpaused the game, and then accidentally beat Chas's high score.
Chas's entire meaning in life (being the undefeated champion of Ninja Death Rats of Platonic Doom) has been destroyed.
Later Karl comes home from work in the mood for some fried sausages. However, when he gets to the fridge… dun, dun, durrr, the sausages are gone! Karl swears he will get revenge.
The first to be interrogated is Karen. Karl ties her up and takes her into the broom closet where he shines a light in her face and asks her questions. It turns out that she's been at work all day and has had no opportunity of thieving his sausages. The whole thing descends into a hideous Basic Instinct rip-off with Karen waving her multiple legs in the air.
Next Karl tries to find Phil, but Phil is out. As well as being a bouncer Phil also moonlights as a televangelist, and is out recording a show.
Cut to Phil behind an altar ranting about the holiness of dentists.
Karl turns to his next suspect - Chas. Chas doesn't respond to the questioning, so intent is he on his PlayStation game. To get his attention Karl has to switch the power off in the house. This only enrages Chas. Again Karen comes to the rescue, explaining that beating up Karl a 2nd time is the first time that Chas has moved from the couch since he beat Karl up last time (if that's clear enough). When he recovers, Karl realizes that this means, by a process of elimination that he knows who is responsible for the theft.
Another abusive Martian gives a half-time report on the show. He is not very polite, but he's speaking French. An English voice is dubbed over him saying, 'The show is going very well, please remain seated.'
Phil continues in his rant. He is interrupt by Karl diving, kamikaze style, onto him. The fight is short, brief, and obvious.
Karl in traction. He receives a card. He opens it thinking it is a 'Get well soon' card, but, instead, it is a note from
the Martians thanking him for his sausages. They were the thieves all along! The Martians are having a barbecue on Mars playing banjos and trumpeting the French National Anthem.
